The Supreme Council of Units


Aims of the Council

       The Council is the authority that supervises the management of the affairs of the units and centers of special nature, and the implementation of the policy that achieves its aims  in the light of governing laws, regulations and decisions. It is particularly responsible for:

1.       Following up the performance of centers and units of special nature at the university level.

2.       Considering the proposal to establish new centers and units of special nature.

3.       Considering the proposal to modify the current regulations of existing centers and units of special nature.

4.       Considering the addition and the deletion of certain activities within existing centers and units of special nature.

5.        Suggestingthe approval of the final accounts of the centers and units of special nature for the ended financial years.

Formation of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Units:

1.       Professor / President of the University-Chairperson.

2.       Professor/ Vice-President of the University for Community Service and Environment Development- Vice-Chairperson.

3.       Professor / Vice President for Education and Student Affairs- Member.

4.       Professor / Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research- Member

5.       Three of the oldest heads of boards of directors of centers and units of special nature- Members

6.       The General Secretary of the University – Member.

7.       General Director of Community Service and Environmental Development of the University-  Member.

8.       General Director of the University's units of accounting-  Member.

Terms of Reference:

1.      Drawing up the general policy of the units and centers of special nature and taking the decisions that achieve their objectives.

2.      Following up the setting of internal rules and regulations for work in centers and units of special nature.

3.      Considering the periodic reports concerning the progress of work in the mentioned centers and units.

4.      Reviewing the contracts concluded with others in the areas of work in and with centers and units.

5.      Approving the annual budget of the centers and units together with their final accounts.

6.      Proposing the approval of accepting grants, allowances and donations received for centers and units of special nature, and that accord with the latter’s aims and purposes.

7.      Approving pricing lists for services performed by centers and units.

8.      Approving the selection of experts and temporary workers from within or outside the university, adhering to the two decrees of the Minister of State for Administrative Development No. 24 and 25 of 1997.

9.      Approving the proposal to amend the internal regulations of the centers and units.

10.  Proposing to approve the establishment of new units of special nature.

11.  Considering any of the matters proposed by the chairman of the Council and related to the council’s specifications.
