President of Damietta University Receives Champion Ali Ibrahim Nasr and Congratulates Him on His Outstanding Performance at the African Para Powerlifting Championship

Professor Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, received today, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, student champion Ali Ibrahim Mohamed Nasr, a first-year student in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at the Faculty of Agriculture, to congratulate him on his remarkable sporting achievement at the African Open Para Powerlifting Championship, which was held in Algeria in May 2026.

The meeting was attended by Professor Ahmed El-Sheikha, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the University President expressed his great pride in the student’s outstanding accomplishments, emphasizing that this achievement represents an honorable example of the ability of Egyptian youth to excel and achieve success at continental and international levels. He also noted that it reflects Damietta University’s commitment to supporting its talented and high-achieving students in various academic and athletic fields.

Champion Ali Ibrahim Nasr succeeded in winning four gold medals, securing first place in the African Junior Championship, first place in the African Junior Overall Ranking, first place in the African Open Championship, and a junior gold medal with a lift of 146 kg. In addition, he earned a bronze medal in the senior competition, a silver medal in the African Senior Overall Ranking, a silver medal in the African Open Senior Overall Ranking, and a bronze medal in the African Senior Championship.

Professor Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally affirmed that the university takes great pride in the distinguished athletic achievements of its students, noting that athletic excellence is an important aspect of building students’ character and developing their skills alongside their academic success.

He also extended his appreciation to Professor Ahmed El-Sheikha, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, praising his efforts in supporting outstanding students and nurturing young talents within the faculty, as well as his commitment to providing an encouraging environment that helps them achieve excellence and success in various fields, thereby enhancing the university’s reputation and representation at different events and competitions.
