The 4th Call of the Applied Sciences Excellence Program

The Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) announces the opening of applications for the Fourth Call of the Applied Sciences and Innovation Excellence Program (ASPIRE Egypt).

The program aims to support outstanding applied research projects that contribute to transforming scientific research outcomes into tangible solutions and innovations with real impact on society and industry, thereby advancing the achievement of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development.

??The program offers two funding tracks:

1. Academic Track:

Supports projects led by researchers from Egyptian academic or research institutions without the requirement of an industrial partner.

Funding: Up to 3 million EGP per project.

 Projects should start at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 and are expected to reach TRL 5–6 by the end of the project.

2. Academic–Industrial Collaboration Track:

Supports collaborative projects between universities/research centers and partners from the industrial sector.

Funding: Up to 8 million EGP from STDF.

Industrial partner contribution: At least 20% of the total project budget (cash contribution).

 Projects should start at TRL 5 and are expected to reach TRL 7 or higher by the end of the project.

Projects submitted must fall under one of the following areas:

* Renewable Energy and Energy Storage

* Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation in Services and Industry

* Cybersecurity and Information & Communication Technology

* Advanced Materials and Manufacturing

* Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainability

* Water Desalination and Management

* Precision Agriculture and Food Security

* Health Technologies

* Waste Management and Circular Economy

The Information and Network Center announces the modification and update of the university email management system, which includes (creating university email accounts, resetting, and recovering passwords). This update aims to simplify and streamline the procedures provided to faculty members and teaching assistants through the Faculty Members’ Portal.

The Fourth Call for Proposals of the Basic Sciences Program

      The Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) announces the opening of applications for the 4th Call for Proposals under the Basic Sciences Program, which aims to stimulate scientific research in this vital field and to build innovative research teams capable of addressing challenges—thereby enhancing the overall quality and impact of scientific research in Egypt.

?? General Conditions of the Call:

  • Funding will be provided for the best research proposals with a maximum budget of EGP 3 million per project in the fields of Basic Sciences (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Geology) for a duration of no less than two years and no more than three years.
  • Submitted proposals will be evaluated competitively by expert reviewers specialized in the relevant scientific fields, according to the Authority’s regulations.

 Deadline for proposal submission: November 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

Extension of the Application Period for Membership in the (EYAS)

      The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) announces the extension of the application period for membership in the Egyptian Young Academy of Sciences (EYAS) until October 31, 2025.

 Basic Eligibility Criteria:

  • Egyptian nationality and residing in Egypt.
  • Holds a PhD with 3–10 years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Under 40 years old at the time of application.
  • Minimum h-index of 7.
  • Demonstrated research excellence, leadership skills, and commitment to serving the scientific community.

Application File Includes:

 Membership Duration: 3 years, with active participation in EYAS working groups to promote scientific research and innovation in Egypt.

"Students for Egypt" organizes football matches in celebration of October Victory.

       Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof./ Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally – President of Damietta University, and under the leadership of Prof./ Mohamed Abdo Ragheb Amasha – Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and supervised by Mr./ Mohamed Refaat – General Director of Student Care.
The "Students for Egypt" family at Damietta University, in collaboration with the University Student Union, organized a number of five-a-side football matches in celebration of the glorious October Victory anniversary.

This event comes as part of the university’s commitment to fostering a sense of national belonging among its students and encouraging them to participate in sports activities that promote teamwork and fair competition.

The matches saw wide participation from students of various faculties amidst an enthusiastic atmosphere that reflected a spirit of cooperation and patriotism, affirming that the spirit of October still lives on in the hearts of the university’s youth.

The results were as follows:

  • First Place: Faculty of Sports Sciences
  • Second Place: Faculty of Education

Prof./ Mohamed Amasha inspects the female university dormitories

       As part of the directives of His Excellency Prof./ Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally – President of the University – to provide comprehensive care and support for the students of the university dormitories,

On Monday, October 13, 2025, Prof./ Mohamed Abdo Ragheb Amasha – Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs – conducted an inspection visit to the female students’ dormitory. The visit aimed to follow up on the workflow and ensure the quality of services provided to the students in terms of accommodation, nutrition, cleanliness, and regular maintenance of buildings and facilities.

During his tour, His Excellency stressed the importance of providing a safe and comfortable environment for the students, overcoming any obstacles they may face, and fully adhering to standards of quality and hygiene. He emphasized that the university administration spares no effort in ensuring the well-being of its students and in creating an environment conducive to academic achievement.

Prof./ Mohamed Abdo Amasha was accompanied during the visit by Mr. Wagih Murad – Director of the Female Dormitory Administration – along with a number of supervisors and officials in charge of nutrition and housing.

During the tour, His Excellency listened to the students’ feedback regarding the level of services provided and directed the administration to respond promptly to any remarks raised by the students. He also emphasized the importance of continuous preventive maintenance and ongoing improvements within the dormitory.

At the end of the visit, His Excellency praised the efforts of the dormitory staff in maintaining discipline and general cleanliness. He stressed the importance of continuing to work as a team to provide the best possible service to the students, in line with the directives of His Excellency the University President, Prof. Dr. Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally, to ensure a safe and supportive residential environment for all university students.

Damietta University Continues Its Excellence for the Fifth Consecutive Year in the "Times World Ranking"

     Damietta University Maintains Its Excellence for the Fifth Consecutive Year in the 2026 “Times Higher Education World University Rankings”

The British Times Higher Education organization has announced the results of the 2026 World University Rankings, one of the most prestigious international rankings in higher education.

Damietta University has continued its academic and research excellence by maintaining its position in the global rankings for the fifth consecutive year, placing in the 1001–1200 band worldwide among 2,191 universities representing 115 countries. The university also ranked in the third tier among Egyptian universities—public, private, and national—listed in the ranking, with a total of 52 Egyptian universities represented.

In the Research Quality indicator, Damietta University achieved a remarkable advancement, ranking 634th globally among the participating universities, reflecting its distinguished status among higher education institutions locally, regionally, and internationally.

This achievement is attributed to the university’s clear strategic plan aimed at strengthening its educational and research system, promoting integration across its various sectors, and to the efforts of its researchers and scholars in enhancing the quality of scientific and academic output.

He emphasized that this success is the result of a well-coordinated team effort across the entire university. On this occasion, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, President of the University, extends his thanks to Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamid Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and sincere congratulations to all those affiliated with the University. Program Details:

  • The 2025–2026 academic year grant covers all scientific fields.
  • The grant duration ranges from three to nine months.

 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Egyptian citizens residing in Egypt from the start of the application process until final selection.
  • Must be a full-time faculty member at an Egyptian university or research center.
