Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hamdan Rabie AlMetwally, President of Damietta University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. ElMetwally Mostafa Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Damietta University, in cooperation with Damietta Governorate, organized a series of specialized training courses aimed at enhancing the performance of employees at the Governorate’s General Diwan Office. This initiative comes within the framework of strengthening institutional partnerships and supporting digital transformation efforts.
The activities commenced with the first training course, held on February 1, 2026, at Misr Public Library, titled “Using Artificial Intelligence in Government Work.” The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Wael Abdelkader Awad, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence at Damietta University. The course addressed the concept of artificial intelligence and government digital transformation, its key applications in public institutions, governance, and strategies for its deployment in the public sector, practical tools and technologies, as well as future foresight and building a smart government innovation ecosystem.
The course aimed to empower government employees with a solid understanding of AI fundamentals and technologies, enhance their capabilities in data analysis and decision support, and reinforce governance concepts and ethical frameworks for the use of AI technologies within public entities. This supports a culture of innovation and accelerates the transition toward a smart and sustainable government model.
These courses are part of the comprehensive development convoys implemented by Damietta University in line with its societal role and national responsibility to support local development plans and enhance the efficiency of the administrative apparatus in Damietta Governorate. This is achieved by equipping administrative cadres with the latest knowledge and applications in artificial intelligence, leadership excellence, and occupational safety—positively impacting the quality of services provided to citizens and advancing institutional development across the governorate.
