University President and the Governors of Damietta and Qena Inspect University Faculties’ Exhibitions

         University President and the Governors of Damietta and Qena Inspect the Activities and Exhibitions of the Faculty of Applied Arts within the Damietta Festival.

As part of the second edition of the Damietta Festival, the Central Park in New Damietta City hosted a variety of artistic and cultural activities, where Professor Dr. Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, Professor Dr. Ayman El-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, toured several activities and exhibitions organized by the Faculty of Applied Arts.

The tour was also attended by Professor  Dr. Mohamed Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Dr. Ghada El-Sayyad, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts; Professor  Dr. El-Metwally Selim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Major General Dr. Tarek Behairy, Assistant Secretary General; Professor  Dr. Amr Hanafy, Advisor to the Governor of Damietta for Spatial Information Systems and the official spokesperson of the governorate; Ms. Lamia Meligy, Director of Local Development and Urban Policy at UN-Habitat; and Eng. Amr Aransa, Director of the Damietta Festival.

The University President and the two Governors visited the handmade carpet and kilim exhibition organized by the Faculty of Applied Arts, which showcased one of Damietta’s oldest traditional crafts using natural materials such as cotton, wool, and silk, with designs inspired by the local environment. Governor of Damietta emphasized that the exhibition reflects the richness of Damietta’s design heritage and provides an opportunity to appreciate the skills of the students in the Department of Textiles.

The tour also included the marquetry exhibition organized by the faculty, an art form that relies on meticulously cutting wood veneer to create decorative patterns and designs used in furniture decoration. Governor of Damietta praised the creative works of the students, highlighting that the exhibition embodies the festival’s goals of showcasing traditional crafts that combine manual skill with artistic beauty.

For his part, the University President affirmed that the students of the Faculty of Applied Arts have presented distinguished models of creativity and innovation, stressing that Damietta University constantly supports its students in integrating academic knowledge with practical application to serve national industry and meet the needs of society.
