President of Damietta University Attends the Launch Ceremony of the National Initiative to Support Outstanding Students
“Future Scientists Scholarship”
Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the launch ceremony of the National Initiative to Support Outstanding Students at Egyptian Universities, titled “Future Scientists Scholarship.” The ceremony was held under the gracious patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Entissar El-Sisi, spouse of His Excellency the President of the Republic, and in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, at Cairo University.
The ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in partnership with the Central Bank of Egypt, with high-level participation that included a number of ministers, senior officials, presidents of Egyptian universities, banking leaders, as well as a distinguished group of decision-makers, media figures, and a large number of outstanding students.
The event was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population; Mr. Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; and Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with several ministers and former ministers of higher education. Also in attendance were Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, in addition to a number of senior officials, heads of media and press institutions, decision-makers, presidents of Egyptian universities, banking leaders, business leaders, representatives of civil society, and a large number of students.
The “Future Scientists Scholarship” initiative represents a prominent national milestone that reflects the political leadership’s commitment to supporting young minds, within the framework of an ambitious national vision aimed at enhancing investment in human capital and consolidating the principle of equal educational opportunities. This initiative enables outstanding students and those with special abilities to continue their academic and research journeys.
The events included a group commemorative photo for the scholarship beneficiaries, followed by the official proceedings at the Grand Celebration Hall, which began with a speech by the President of Cairo University, followed by a panel discussion with a group of beneficiary students. During the discussion, the students shared their experiences and aspirations, emphasizing the positive impact of the scholarship in supporting their academic and professional paths.
The ceremony also featured official speeches affirming that the philosophy of the initiative is based on ensuring that no financial obstacle stands in the way of students’ aspirations for excellence and creativity. The speakers stressed the importance of integration between educational and economic state institutions in investing in human capital and preparing a generation capable of competing globally.
