University President Attends the Closing Ceremony of the Second Season of the FAO Simulation Model “FA Model DU 2025” at the Faculty of Agriculture.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended the closing ceremony of the second season of the FAO Simulation Model “FA Model DU 2025,” organized by the Faculty of Agriculture in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The event was held under the theme: “Technology Embraces the Land” at the “Farouk Shousha” Conference Hall of the university.
The ceremony began with the University President inaugurating an exhibition showcasing innovative models and products by” AgriTech” companies, reflecting pioneering ideas in addressing challenges related to agriculture, environmental change, and technology.
The event then moved to the “Farouk Shousha” Hall, in the presence of Professor Dr. El-Metwally Mostafa Selim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohamed El-Sheikha, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Professor Dr. Sherif El-Kadi, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of the National Anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by a recitation from the Holy Qur’an delivered by Yahya Nader, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Agriculture. Afterwards, Mariam Tarek Abu El-Naga, President of the FAO Model at Damietta University, presented an introductory overview of the model’s objectives. She emphasized that the model aims to simulate the role of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), inspiring youth to harness science and technology to increase agricultural production, while enhancing scientific and commercial competitiveness for postgraduate student projects.
For her part, Dr. Manal Mohamed El-Khdrgy, the academic supervisor of the model, highlighted that this student activity is the first of its kind in terms of cooperation with international organizations. She explained that throughout the second season, around 50 diverse sessions were organized, focusing on multiple agricultural fields, particularly smart agriculture. She affirmed that this reflects the university’s role in creating a tangible impact that benefits students and prepares them for the labor market and entrepreneurship.
Professor Dr. El-Metwally Mostafa Selim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, affirmed that the FAO Model seeks to prepare a conscious generation capable of making real change in society by transforming ideas into projects that serve the agricultural and environmental sectors. He emphasized the model’s focus on AgriTech companies, which integrate technology with agriculture to achieve greater sustainability using artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and clean energy technologies.
Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, praised the role of the model in refining students’ skills and linking traditional sectors with modern technologies. He stressed that this contributes to preparing future leaders in the fields of agriculture and sustainable development. He also expressed his pride in supporting the Faculty of Agriculture and its students, reaffirming the university’s commitment to providing all forms of support for student and research activities that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
