In an atmosphere filled with joy and optimism at the start of a new academic year, Damietta University organized on Sunday, September 21, 2025, an official celebration to welcome its new students for the academic year 2025/2026 at the university campus, under the patronage and presence of Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University.
The ceremony began with the playing of the Egyptian national anthem and the flag salute, in the presence of a large gathering of university leaders, led by Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Shehab, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, along with the deans and vice-deans of the faculties, faculty members, and both new and continuing students.
At the opening of the speeches, Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Shehab delivered a welcoming address to the students, affirming that the university is a beacon of knowledge and the starting point of their future path. He stressed the university’s commitment to supporting scientific research and postgraduate studies, and urged students to actively engage early on in research activities that would enhance both their academic and practical capabilities.
Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdo Amasha then delivered his speech, in which he extended his gratitude to Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, for his continuous support of students and his commitment to creating an outstanding university environment. He also welcomed the new students and congratulated them on joining the university family, affirming that the Education and Student Affairs Sector provides full support and care from their very first day on campus. He further highlighted the vital role of student activities in building character and developing various skills.
In his address, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, welcomed the new students, stressing that Damietta University is constantly striving to provide a modern learning environment that enables students to achieve excellence and creativity. He emphasized the importance of discipline and seriousness in study, along with active participation in academic and student activities. He also encouraged students to take full advantage of the advanced resources the university provides in the fields of education, training, and scientific research, wishing them an academic year filled with success and distinction.
He concluded his speech by thanking the students of the “For Egypt” family for their efforts in organizing the celebration and their outstanding contributions to the success of the event.
Following the speeches, the University President and the attendees toured several exhibitions showcasing products and projects by students from various faculties, reflecting their creativity in diverse scientific and artistic fields.
The celebration concluded with a series of accompanying activities, including sports performances presented by students of the Faculty of Physical Education, artistic segments by students of the Faculty of Specific Education, as well as introductory presentations highlighting the student services and activities available at the university.
