The President of Damietta University Attends the Opening of the International Conference at Mansoura University

         President of Damietta University Attends the Opening of the 13th International Conference of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University on Artificial Intelligence. On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Professor Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended the opening of the 13th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University. The conference, held in Ras El-Bar City, is titled: “Advancing Veterinary Medicine through Artificial Intelligence: Emerging Trends and Future Opportunities”, and is organized in cooperation with the General Syndicate of Egyptian Veterinarians.

Professor Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, inaugurated the opening session in the presence of:

Professor Dr. El-Said Abdel Hady, President of Horus University,

Professor Dr. Magdy Hassan, President of the General Syndicate of Veterinarians and President of the Arab Veterinary Union,

Professor Dr. Hatem El-Roubi, representative of the General Secretariat of the Arab League,

Professor Dr. Hamed Mohamed El-Aqnas, Head of the General Authority for Veterinary Services representing the Ministry of Agriculture,

Professor Dr. Anas Rateb Al-Saud, Executive Director of the Association of Arab Universities,

Professor Dr. Ehab Kamal, representing the Egyptian Health Council,

Professor Dr. Gamal Abd Al Rahim Sosa, Head of the Veterinary Studies Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities and former President of Benha University,

Along with Professor Dr. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of Mansoura University for Postgraduate Studies and Research,

Professor Dr. Maha El-Ashmawy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Conference Chair,

a distinguished delegation of veterinary officers from the Egyptian Armed Forces, representatives of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, in addition to leading Arab and international academic and professional figures, and members of the media and press.

Professor Dr. Sherif Khater welcomed the participants from Egypt, the Arab world, and various countries around the globe, expressing his gratitude to the General Syndicate of Veterinarians for their fruitful cooperation. He emphasized that artificial intelligence has become a fundamental pillar of progress across all fields, highlighting that the veterinary profession is not limited to animal care, but serves as a safeguard for public health and a guarantee of food security.

 

He also pointed out the university’s strong commitment to the field of veterinary sciences, given its pivotal role in supporting the health of animals, humans, and the environment within the framework of the “One Health” concept. He reaffirmed Mansoura University’s role as a leading platform for scientific dialogue and knowledge exchange, as well as its distinguished regional and international standing.

Furthermore, he stressed that the organization of this international conference, along with hosting the first forum of Arab syndicate heads and deans of veterinary medicine faculties on its sidelines, represents a landmark scientific and historic event. This, he added, reflects Egypt and Mansoura University’s leadership in advancing veterinary education and scientific research both locally and globally.

Deans of faculties of veterinary medicine and syndicate heads of the profession from various Arab countries attended the conference, along with distinguished experts and researchers from prestigious international universities and research centers, as well as representatives of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Association of Arab Universities.

The three-day conference discusses the latest applications of artificial intelligence and biotechnologies in veterinary medicine, aiming to promote the “One Health” concept, which links human, animal, and environmental health. It also seeks to issue recommendations that support the development of education and scientific research in line with sustainable development goals.

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, expressed his great pleasure in participating in this distinguished international scientific gathering. He praised the outstanding organization of the conference and the remarkable participation of universities, research institutions, and professional bodies from the Arab world and beyond. He affirmed that the conference reflects Mansoura University is leading position in the field of veterinary sciences, as well as Egypt’s pivotal role in advancing scientific research and utilizing artificial intelligence technologies in the service of education and society.

He further stressed Damietta University’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egyptian, Arab, and international universities in addressing shared research issues, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development.
