         University President Attends the Launch of the Second Edition of the Damietta Festival at Al-Lisan in Ras El-Bar.

This evening, Professor  Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, together with Professor Dr. Ayman El-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, attended the grand ceremony held at Al-Lisan area in Ras El-Bar to announce the launch of the second edition of the Damietta Festival, with the presence of a wide range of executive leaders, partners, and supporters.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Dr. Tarek Behairy, Assistant Secretary General; Dr. Mohamed Hosny, Vice Chairman of Mopco Company; Ms. Sahar Nabawy, Mopco’s Assistant for Government Relations; Brigadier General Mohamed Khalifa, Military Advisor to the Governorate; Prof. Dr. Amr Hanafy, Advisor to the Governor for Spatial Information Systems and Official Spokesperson; Counselor Haitham El-Ghandour, Legal Advisor to the Governorate; Mr. Mohamed Fayed, Head of the Chamber of Commerce; Eng. Abdel Moneim Qetilo, Chairman of Qetilo Dairy Group; Senator Amir El-Siddiq, Member of the Senate; Anba Bendlimon, Pastor of the Greek Orthodox Church; Mr. Yasser Khater, Head of the Central Administration of the Free Zone; Dr. Osama Hafeela, Head of the Investors’ Association; Mr. Hossam Shbka, Branch Director of the MSME Development Agency; Dr. Mohamed Fawzy, Director of the Youth and Sports Directorate; Sheikh Hany El-Sebaay, Director of the Endowments Directorate; Major General Wael El-Sherbiny, Head of Ras El-Bar City Council; and Eng. Amr Aransa, Festival Director.

In his speech, the Governor announced the launch of the second edition of the festival under the slogan “Damietta is Something Different”, highlighting the governorate’s unique industrial, touristic, cultural, and commercial assets that make it a driver of sustainable development and one of the most prominent industrial cities in Egypt and the world. He emphasized that this year’s edition, running from September 25 to 27, builds on the success of the first edition in 2024 in promoting Damietta’s diverse potential.

The Governor also expressed his appreciation for the partnerships supporting the festival, which is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, and Youth & Sports, with Mopco Company as the strategic partner, UNESCO as a technical partner, and organized by V Digital. He welcomed Qena Governorate as this year’s guest of honor, presenting for the first time in Damietta a range of cultural and artistic performances.

For his part, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, President of Damietta University, extended his gratitude to the Governor of Damietta for organizing this distinguished festival, affirming that the university is always keen to participate in and support events that highlight the governorate’s assets and enhance its position locally and internationally.

He pointed out that the university is taking part in the festival through several of its faculties, including Applied Arts, Agriculture, Specific Education, and Archaeology, reflecting its role in promoting Damietta’s cultural and heritage identity, while linking academic creativity and scientific research to community service and environmental development.The opening ceremony also featured a special performance by the Qena Folklore Troupe, which captivated the audience, alongside musical performances by the talented choir of Egypt Public Library, creating a festive atmosphere that resonated with attendees.
