President of the University Inaugurates the First Scientific Conference of the Department of Music Education

              Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, inaugurated today, Sunday, May 24, 2026, the activities of the First Scientific Conference of the Department of Music Education at the Faculty of Specific Education. The event was attended by Professor Dr. El-Metwally Mostafa Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Ammasha, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education; Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Shehab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Professor Dr. Hoda Abdel Nabi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and Head of the Department of Music Education; and Professor Dr. Mohamad Omran, Director of the University Quality Assurance Center, in addition to faculty members and teaching assistants of the department.

In his opening speech, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally emphasized that the conference represents a distinguished scientific launch for the Department of Music Education and reflects the university’s commitment to supporting academic and research activities across its faculties. He praised the efforts exerted to develop the department and strengthen its role in serving the educational process and scientific research, in addition to supporting postgraduate programs and opening new horizons for research cooperation among the university’s academic departments.

For his part, Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdo Ammasha welcomed the University President, the vice presidents, and the distinguished attendees, expressing his pleasure at organizing the department’s first scientific conference and stressing the importance of music education in developing students’ cultural and artistic awareness.

Meanwhile, Professor Dr. El-Metwally Mostafa Selim praised the community role played by the Department of Music Education, affirming that the artistic and cultural activities organized by the department contribute effectively to enhancing community participation and spreading cultural and artistic awareness, reflecting the university’s role in community service and environmental development.

Professor Dr. Mohamad Abdel Hamid Shehab also stressed the importance of preparing professional diplomas within the department and activating joint scientific research with different faculties.

In her speech, Professor Dr. Hoda Abdel Nabi welcomed the attendees and expressed her gratitude to the faculty members, teaching assistants, Quality Assurance Unit, and administrative staff in appreciation of their efforts in organizing the conference and presenting it in an honorable manner.

The conference activities included the presentation of the self-study report for the Music Education Teacher Preparation Program, which covered the seven standards, in addition to reviewing the department’s most significant achievements and development steps implemented during the recent period, contributing to academic and administrative stability and enhancing performance standards.

 

The self-study report also provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s scientific, research, and social activities, along with an analysis of strengths and areas requiring development, and proposed several recommendations and executive plans aimed at improving performance, which resulted in the preparation of an enhancement, improvement, and development plan for 2027.

The conference also witnessed the honoring of Dr. Salah Abdullah, former Head of the Department of Music Education, and Dr. Mohamed El-Ezaby, Conference Coordinator, in addition to honoring faculty members and teaching assistants of the department in recognition of their scientific and organizational efforts.

The conference concluded with several recommendations, foremost among them emphasizing the importance of implementing development and improvement plans and recommendations to support the Department of Music Education’s journey toward academic excellence and strengthen its scientific and community role during the coming stage.
