            Damietta University Announces the Winning Faculties of the Government Excellence Award in an Official Ceremony.

Faculty of Science Tops the Government Excellence Award, Earning First Place at the University Level

Damietta University, under the presidency of Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, organized on Thursday, October 16, 2025, a ceremony to announce the winning faculties of the Government Excellence Award in the category of “Best Institution”, held at the Farouk Shousha Conference Hall.

The event was attended by Eng. Shaimaa El-Sedeek, Deputy Governor of Damietta; Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Zaki, Former President of Tanta University; Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Egypt Government Excellence Award, along with deans, vice-deans, and faculty members.

Eng. Shaimaa El-Seddik delivered a speech in which she expressed her appreciation for Damietta University and its role in supporting the institutional excellence system. She conveyed the greetings of the Governor of Damietta, affirming that the remarkable development witnessed by the university reflects its wise leadership and commitment to presenting a model to be emulated.

She noted that excellence awards are not merely celebratory events but rather indicators of the quality of governmental performance and evidence of real investment in people, science, and knowledge. She added that her personal experience in receiving government excellence awards strengthened her belief in the importance of spreading a culture of positive competition and continuous development within institutions, emphasizing that teamwork is the cornerstone of any success.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Zaki affirmed that Damietta University is steadily moving toward excellence under the leadership of Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, praising the university’s qualified human resources and distinguished infrastructure, which are capable of supporting scientific research and community service. He pointed out that investing in excellence is the key to strengthening the regional and international standing of Egyptian universities.

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, President of the University, welcomed the attendees and emphasized that the university can only advance through establishing a culture of excellence in both performance and outcomes. He noted that healthy competition among faculties contributes to enhancing the efficiency of institutional work. He also explained that Damietta University is committed to strengthening quality standards through trained teams and clear policies that support evaluation and monitoring, pointing out that this award is the culmination of great and continuous efforts within the faculties to achieve best practices.

The ceremony also featured a promotional video introducing the Egypt Government Excellence Award, highlighting its goals of spreading a culture of excellence within government institutions, fostering innovation, strengthening institutional capacities, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.

 

Dr. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Award, expressed her appreciation for the support and attention given by the University President to evaluation and development outcomes. She stressed that achieving excellence is attainable with strong will and systematic work, and maintaining it is just as important as attaining it. She added that continuous improvement and performance monitoring are the cornerstones of sustainable development, affirming that Damietta University has presented a positive model in adhering to standards and empowering participating teams.

As part of the recognition segment, Dr. Soha Saeed presented the Shield of the Egypt Government Excellence Award to Eng. Shaimaa El-Sedeek, while the University’s Award Management Team presented a commemorative shield to Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie in appreciation of his continued support.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the top three winning faculties:

The event ended with the honoring of the university’s internal evaluation team and the award management team for their efforts and contributions.
