          University President Attends the Theatrical Performance “El-Semsimiya” and Highlights the Role of Awareness in Protecting the Nation.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Professor Dr Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended the theatrical performance “El-Semsimiya”, organized by the Decent Life Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The performance, directed by Hesham Atwa, simulated the heroic acts of popular resistance in the Canal Cities during the periods of occupation. The event was hosted by Damietta University at the Farouk Shousha Grand Conference Hall.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended the theatrical performance “El-Semsimiya”, organized by the Decent Life Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The performance, directed by Hesham Atwa, depicted the heroic acts of popular resistance in the Canal Cities during the periods of occupation, and was hosted by Damietta University at the Farouk Shousha Grand Conference Hall.

The event commenced with the National Anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in the presence of Professor Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Ghada El-Sayyad, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts; Ms. Nagwa Kewan, Director of Damietta Cultural Palace; along with a number of police officials, faculty members, and university students.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the University President welcomed the attendees and expressed his pleasure in hosting the event, affirming Damietta University’s continuous readiness to host various cultural, artistic, and community activities in cooperation with the National Theater and Cultural Palaces.

He also delivered an awareness message to the youth, urging them not to be influenced by destructive ideas, to verify information through reliable sources, and to avoid rumors aimed at undermining the Egyptian state.

The performance received great interaction and praise from the audience for its national and historical significance, as it highlighted honorable examples of the Egyptian people’s struggle against occupation.

On the sidelines of the performance, the University President inaugurated an art exhibition by students of the Faculties of Applied Arts and Specific Education, featuring a collection of handcrafted works and paintings that embodied the spirit of the October victories, patriotism, and sacrifice.
