               The President of Damietta University Witnesses the Handover Ceremony of the Site for the Central Laboratories Building Construction and Equipment Project

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, witnessed today, Sunday, January 18, 2026, the handover ceremony of the site for the project to construct and equip the Central Laboratories Building. The project has been awarded to the International Engineering Company (ENCO), as part of the university’s strategic plan to develop its infrastructure and enhance the research and educational capabilities of its practical faculties.

The handover ceremony was attended by Engineer Magdy Saad, General Manager of ENCO; Professor Dr. Mohamed Shehab, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Professor Dr. Samir El-Gamal, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Legal Advisor to the University President; and Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Gamal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development and Head of the Project Site Handover Committee, along with a number of committee members.

During the ceremony, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally emphasized that the project is one of the key strategic projects to which the university gives top priority, due to its pivotal role in advancing the educational and research process and supporting academic accreditation plans and international rankings. He noted that the Central Laboratories Building will represent a qualitative leap in the scientific research system at Damietta University by providing advanced, shared central laboratories serving various scientific disciplines and enhancing research partnerships with academic and industrial institutions, thereby positively impacting the quality of educational and research outcomes.

For his part, Engineer Magdy Saad, General Manager of ENCO, expressed his pride in Damietta University’s confidence in the company to implement this vital project, affirming the company’s full commitment to executing the works in accordance with the highest quality standards and approved technical specifications, and within the specified timetable. He added that all technical and engineering capabilities will be mobilized to ensure the project is delivered in a manner that fulfills the university’s objectives and future aspirations.

The project is located on a total area of approximately 4,400 square meters and consists of a ground floor and three upper floors covering the entire footprint. It includes an integrated complex of specialized central laboratories aimed at serving the educational and research process at Damietta University and its practical faculties, within the framework of a leading educational and research system the university seeks to establish.

The total cost of the project is approximately EGP 460 million, and completion is scheduled within an estimated period of 750 days, reflecting the university’s commitment to implementing its projects according to defined timelines and high quality standards.
