University President Congratulates Dr. Khaled El-Anany on His Election as UNESCO Director-General

            Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Metwally, President of Damietta University, extends his heartfelt congratulations—on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire university community—to Professor Khaled El-Anany on his well-deserved election as Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), following the elections held today at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, coinciding with the anniversary of the glorious October victories.

The President of Damietta University also expressed his sincere congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and to the great Egyptian people, on this historic achievement that reflects Egypt’s leading position on the international stage and demonstrates the world’s confidence in Egyptian competence and its ability to lead global institutions with excellence and efficiency.

Professor Dr. Metwally affirmed that Dr. El-Anany’s victory in this distinguished position crowns a remarkable academic and professional career and represents international recognition of his outstanding contributions in the fields of culture, heritage, and tourism. He added that this success is also a reflection of the wise policies and visionary leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and of the Egyptian state’s steadfast support for its distinguished scholars and professionals in international forums.

He further noted that this achievement is the result of a collective national effort skillfully led by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs over a campaign that spanned more than two years, garnering broad Arab, African, and international support.

The University President concluded his message by wishing Dr. Khaled El-Anany continued success in his new international role, expressing confidence that he will be an outstanding ambassador for Egypt at UNESCO, contributing effectively to advancing the organization’s mission in promoting culture, education, and world peace.
