            University President Attends Freshmen Welcome Ceremony at the Faculty of Archaeology and Praises the Excellent Organization

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended the Freshmen Welcome Ceremony at the Faculty of Archaeology.

The event commenced with the National Anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by verses from the Holy Qur’an, in the presence of Professor Dr.Yosr Ezz El-Regal, Dean of the Faculty, the Vice Deans, members of the academic staff, and a large number of students.

The ceremony featured a documentary presentation on the glorious October War of 1973, highlighting the heroic sacrifices of the Egyptian Armed Forces in reclaiming the nation’s land and dignity, in order to instill a spirit of pride and patriotism among students.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Abdo Abaza, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, welcomed the attendees and the new students, expressing his gratitude to Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie for his continuous support of the faculty.

He also praised the excellent organization of the ceremony by the “Students for Egypt” family and saluted the courage and valor of the Egyptian army in the October War, congratulating the students on the start of the new academic year and wishing them continued success.

For her part, Professor Dr.  Yosra Ezz El-Regal, Dean of the Faculty, expressed her delight at welcoming the new students to the Faculty of Archaeology, thanking everyone who contributed to organizing the event, especially the “Students for Egypt” family.

She affirmed the faculty’s commitment to providing all necessary resources and support to facilitate the educational process.

She also spoke about the lessons of the October Victory and its role in reinforcing determination and teamwork, urging students to take part in training programs and presidential initiatives such as “Be Prepared”, as well as to benefit from the University Career Development Center in preparing for the labor market.

In his address, Professor Dr. Hamdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, expressed his appreciation to the Faculty of Archaeology’s administration, faculty members, and students for their efforts in organizing the ceremony, and commended the performance of the “Students for Egypt” group.

He emphasized that the October Victory will forever remain a symbol of national pride and dignity, calling on students to draw inspiration from the spirit of victory in their academic and research journey to build the future of their nation.

The ceremony concluded with a musical performance, followed by the honoring of outstanding and top-performing students at the faculty.

Finally, student Sara Emad, President of the University Students’ Union, delivered a speech welcoming the new students and expressing her pride in belonging to Damietta University.
