Education & Student Affairs Sector Organizes a Podcast Workshop

      Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. / Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, and under the supervision of Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education & Student Affairs, the Education and Student Affairs Sector, in cooperation with the “Students for Egypt” family, organized an outstanding workshop titled “Podcast” on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The workshop was delivered by Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support digital creativity and enhance students’ media communication skills.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept of podcasting and its growing importance as a modern tool of digital media. It also highlighted successful examples of both Arab and international podcasts.

During the session, Prof./ Mohamed Abdo Amasha emphasized the importance of students acquiring digital media skills in light of the rapid changes in communication tools. He pointed out that podcasting represents an effective platform for expressing opinions, sharing knowledge, and raising awareness on various societal and educational issues.

Damietta University Participates in Launching "Be Ready" Initiative

        Based on the directives of His Excellency Prof./ Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally – President of Damietta University, Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha –Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, participated today, Monday, April 28, 2025, in launching “Be Ready” initiative under the slogan “1 Million Qualified Innovators.” This event is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s activities in the field of career guidance for employment.

 The initiative was launched by prof./ Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, marking the second edition of the “Be Ready” initiative (Be Ready – 1M), with the presence of prof./ Mohamed Gobran, Minister of Labor, alongside a distinguished group of international and regional partners, including the International Labour Organization, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Global Innovation Institute, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Education Development Fund affiliated with the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as several ministry officials, academic leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and media professionals.

In his opening remarks, prof./  Ayman Ashour emphasized that this second edition of the initiative aims to provide comprehensive support to students through an integrated system that meets their needs in acquiring the skills and competencies required to qualify for the labor market. He confirmed that the initiative aligns with the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and the National Strategy for Sustainable Innovation recently launched by the ministry, as part of efforts to achieve the goals of the presidential initiative "Alliance and Development."

prof./  Ashour affirmed that the initiative reflects the state’s belief in the youth’s role as a main driver of development. It seeks to build the capacities and qualify one million university students and recent graduates by launching a comprehensive digital platform that provides multiple pathways for professional and innovative qualification. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting students through a complete and integrated system that equips them for the labor market.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to all supporters of the initiative and to the university career centers, calling on students to make the most of the initiative and the training opportunities it offers. He emphasized that the labor market no longer depends solely on academic degrees, but rather on advanced skills.

During the event, the Minister presented a detailed overview of the initiative, its goals, and the changes in the labor market, noting that the ministry monitors international reports on in-demand skills and aims to align with regional and global labor market needs to enhance Egypt’s ability to export qualified labor. He also highlighted the international recognition of Egyptian talents.

The initiative aims to launch an integrated digital platform offering diverse pathways for professional and innovative qualification, while providing real training and employment opportunities for youth in collaboration with development partners from international institutions and the private sector.

It also aims to enhance students' and graduates’ capabilities and raise their readiness for the labor market by developing their innovative and creative skills, preparing them to secure suitable job opportunities or venture into entrepreneurship. Moreover, it seeks to build a generation of young professionals capable of adapting to the changing demands of local, regional, and international job markets in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

During his participation, Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha emphasized that Damietta University, under the guidance of H.E. Prof. / Hemdan Rabie, gives great importance to supporting its students and graduates at all stages of professional qualification. The university is committed to strengthening partnerships with various national initiatives that aim to empower youth and enhance their practical and technological skills. He praised the importance of the “Be Ready” initiative as a strategic platform that integrates training, mentoring, and employment opportunities in a comprehensive package, contributing to bridging the gap between university education and labor market demands.

The event featured a number of panel discussions with ministry officials and higher education and scientific research experts, addressing employment challenges, future readiness, skills of the future for building a knowledge society, the challenges and opportunities of developing digital and innovative skills, and future paths for innovation and employment, in addition to designing flexible career pathways that meet the evolving needs of the labor market.

Faculty of Specific Education Students' Visit 57357 Hospital

        Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. / Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally – President of Damietta University – and under the supervision of Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha –Vice President of the University for Education & Student Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education – the Faculty of Specific Education organized a visit to 57357 Children's Cancer Hospital on Monday, April 28, 2025.

This visit came as part of the university’s commitment to promoting the values of community engagement and volunteerism among its students, while fostering a sense of belonging and social responsibility toward important humanitarian causes. The visit included a group of students from the "Students for Egypt" family, along with faculty members and administrative staff from the college.

The visit featured several notable activities. Students toured the hospital to learn about its various departments and the advanced medical and therapeutic services provided to children in accordance with the highest international standards. They also offered symbolic gifts and moral support to the children, bringing smiles to their faces through light-hearted entertainment and simple artistic performances specially prepared for the occasion.

Prof. / Mohamed Abdo Amasha expressed his pride in the participation of the Faculty of Specific Education's delegation in this initiative, affirming that such activities are a true embodiment of the university’s role in serving the community and supporting its vital institutions. He also praised the leading role of Hospital 57357 in providing top-tier, free healthcare for children with cancer and commended the tremendous efforts of everyone involved in its operations.

    Higher Education Ministry Announces the Opening of Applications for the Egyptian-German Scientific Exchange Program for Excellence Development

An Opportunity for Egyptian Researchers from Universities and Research Centers to Strengthen Scientific Cooperation with Germany

The Science, Technology & Development Funding Authority (STDF), in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), has announced the opening of the 15th call for the German-Egyptian Scientific Exchange and Excellence Development Program (GE-SEED). This program aims to support research collaboration between Egyptian and German institutions through mutual scientific visits between researchers.

The program is designed to enhance cooperation between research teams, with a particular focus on providing opportunities for young researchers and postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) students to participate in scientific exchange visits lasting up to two years. These visits aim to foster knowledge transfer, experience sharing, and capacity building in research.

The duration of scientific visits under the program is as follows:

  • For researchers: Up to one month per year
  • For young researchers (Master’s and PhD students): Between 3 to 6 months per year

Prof./ Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized that this program reflects the state’s commitment to supporting academic and scientific cooperation with Germany. The University President participates in the activities of the Union of Universities.

          In a move that reflects the strategic direction toward academic openness and enhancing regional and international cooperation, Prof. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, participated in the 57th General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, held on April 23 and 24 at the International University for Science and Technology in Kuwait. The conference was held under the theme: "Arab Higher Education in the Light of Digital Transformation and Enhancing Regional Integration." This participation comes as part of the university's ongoing efforts to expand its  academic relationships and exchange expertise with leading educational institutions across the Arab world. The conference witnessed wide participation from leaders in higher education in the Arab world, headed by Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities; and Prof. Abdel Majid Ben Amara, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils. A large number of university presidents, academics, and higher education specialists from various Arab countries also attended. In a statement, Prof.  Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally expressed his happiness to participate in this prestigious academic event, stressing the importance of such meetings in exchanging experiences and strengthening relations between universities, in the belief in the importance of Arab integration in the fields of education and scientific research, and the necessity of joint work to confront the challenges facing higher education in the region, especially in light of the digital transformation that has become an undeniable reality, we at Damietta University strive to keep pace with this trend by updating our curricula and developing our educational environment in line with the requirements of the era and the Arab labor market. The event also saw the announcement of the Union's awards for the best master's and doctoral theses. An Egyptian researcher from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Cairo University won the award for the best master's thesis in the field of the green economy and its impact on human health. Three Egyptian researchers also won the Yousef bin Saeed Lootah Award for Young Researchers, reflecting Egypt's scientific excellence on the Arab level. The Union honored Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in appreciation of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education's efforts in supporting Arab academic cooperation. Damietta University organizes a specialized workshop entitled "Electronic Presentation Skills."

         As part of Damietta University's ongoing efforts to develop its students' skills and hone their capabilities to keep pace with the requirements of the digital age, Prof. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, inaugurated a distinguished workshop this morning, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, entitled "Good Electronic Presentation Skills." ,which was organized by the Education and Student Affairs Sector under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Abdo Amasha, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and with the participation of the "Students for Egypt" family. In his opening remarks, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, highlighted the importance of the symposium's topic, saying: "Developing electronic presentation skills is no longer a luxury, but an urgent necessity in light of the rapid digital transformation the world is witnessing." This workshop is a fundamental step towards empowering our students with modern tools and enhancing their competitiveness in a job market that has come to rely heavily on technical proficiency and the ability to present ideas professionally.” The university president added: "Through such initiatives, we seek to build a generation aware of the requirements of the future, capable of employing technology to develop itself and its society." The university president also thanked everyone who contributed to organizing this workshop, affirming his full support for its continuation and expansion to include other skills that serve Egypt's Vision 2030. The workshop was attended by Prof. Mohammed Abdo Amasha, who offered his extensive experience in university education and information technology, demonstrating to the students the most important skills and techniques needed to deliver effective and professional electronic presentations.
