The university president attends a symposium on sports sciences and its connection with other sciences

             Today, April 28, 2024, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally witnessed the “Sports Sciences and Its Connection to Other Sciences” symposium organized by the College of Physical Education on the sidelines of the meeting of the Physical Education Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities at its session No. (23) under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohamad Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Professor Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, the General Syndicate of Sports Professions, and Leadership, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Al-Matbouli, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education. The symposium activities began with the playing of the Republican Anthem, followed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, then Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie honored those who passed away and left behind a great legacy testifying to their efforts and dedication to work, namely Professor Dr. Mosaad Ali Mahmoud, the former Dean of the College of Physical Education, and Professor Dr. Amjad Abd Al Latif Ibrahim, the former Dean of the College and Professor Dr. Hazem Jad Issa, Professor at the College of Physical Education. The symposium was attended by Professor Dr. Hussein Al-Semry, Chairman of the Physical Education Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, Professor Dr. Kawthar Al-Moji, representative of the scientific committees of the Supreme Council of Universities and full-time professor in the Department of Sports Management at the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys, Helwan University, and Professor Dr. Gamal Mohamad Ali, Secretary-General of the General Syndicate of Sports Professions and Chairman of the Committee Coaches of the Egyptian Football Association and former Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Assiut University. The objectives of the symposium were to learn about the reality of sports sciences and physical activity and the extent of their connection with other sciences, to exchange experiences and learn about local, regional and international experiences in the field of sports sciences and physical activity, and to enhance participation with local and regional bodies and institutions related to the fields of sports sciences. This came in the presence of members of the Physical Education Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ragheb Amasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Attia Al-Qali, Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Wael Abd Al Kader, Dean of the College of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, and Professor Dr. Nahed Khedr, Dean of the College. Nursing, deputies, faculty members and the university’s administrative staff. On the sidelines of the symposium, Professor Dr. Hamdan Rabie, President of the University, honored the Egyptian champions of the university’s students who achieved advanced positions in international competitions, namely the student Youmna Ayyad, champion of the Egyptian boxing team and winner of the 54 kg gold medal in the Nelson Mandela Cup tournament held in South Africa, who qualifies for the Paris Olympics. 2024 and a student in the third year of the College of Physical Education And the student Mazen Sharif, the Egyptian weightlifting champion who won third place and the bronze medal in the weight of 81 kg in the Mediterranean Cup Championship, and the student in the first group at the Faculty of Physical Education, The student Nidal Mohamed Ali, the Egyptian champion in weightlifting, who won first place and the gold medal under 20 years of age in the 49 kg snatch competition in the Women’s Republic Weightlifting Championship, qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the student in the first division at the Faculty of Physical Education, and the student Myrna Mohamed Ali, the Egyptian champion in weightlifting and the runner-up. The student in the first year at the Faculty of Physical Education, won third place and a bronze medal in the under-20 weight of 55 kg in the Republic Championship for Women’s Weightlifting.
