The University President inaugurates the civil defense systems training activities

              The University President Inaugurates Training on Civil Protection Systems and Firefighting.

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, inaugurated on Monday, May 4, 2026, the training activities on civil protection systems and firefighting. The training was organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector under the supervision of Professor Dr. Al-Metwally Mostafa Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and was held at the “Farouk Shousha” Conference Hall.

The event was attended by Captain Emad Al-Khayali, Head of the Civil Protection Sector in New Damietta, and Officer Kamal Refaat Mohamed, Civil Protection Training Instructor, along with a number of faculty deans and vice deans, faculty members, teaching assistants, and administrative staff of the university.

This training comes as part of Damietta University’s commitment to promoting a culture of occupational safety and raising awareness among its members on how to deal with emergency situations, thereby contributing to the protection of lives and property within the university campus and enhancing a safe educational environment.

The event began with the playing of the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran by student Mohamed Abu Al-Khair. The seminar was moderated by Professor Dr. Hoda Abdel Nabi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education for Community Service and Environmental Development.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally emphasized that this training is one of the vital programs the university is keen to implement continuously to ensure that all its members benefit. He noted that meeting civil protection requirements is a fundamental condition for educational institutions to obtain the necessary licenses. He added that civil protection is one of the most important institutional work files, as it is directly related to the safety of individuals and facilities and is a cornerstone of effective management.

The University President stressed the importance of regularly organizing such training programs due to their key role in enhancing the readiness of university members to handle crises and strengthening the occupational safety and health system at the university.

The training included a theoretical session presented by Captain Emad Al-Khayali, covering civil protection procedures, the importance of preparedness for crises, types of fires, and how to deal with them, along with guidelines for selecting the appropriate extinguishing method for each type.

It also included a practical session delivered by Officer Kamal Refaat Mohamed, which demonstrated the components of fire extinguishers, how to ensure their validity through indicators, safe usage methods, causes of electrical short circuits, types of fires, and the most suitable methods to extinguish each type.
