          Victory of the Delta Region Alliance, Led by Mansoura and Damietta Universities, in the Smart Dairy Industry Development Project.

Under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Prof. Dr.Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended today, Thursday, December 11, 2025, the events announcing the results of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, at the New Administrative Capital. The event was attended by a number of ministers, university presidents, and Egyptian and international academic and research leaders.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the results of the initiative, which resulted in the selection of nine regional alliances nationwide. Among them was the Delta Region Alliance, led by Damietta and Mansoura Universities, with the participation of 12 members from universities, research centers, and the industrial sector. The alliance focuses on implementing a project to develop a smart system for the dairy industry, aiming to improve quality, enhance food security, and increase the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.

The Minister affirmed that the “Alliance and Development” initiative is one of the most important practical steps in implementing the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation 2030. He noted that it aims to build strong partnerships between universities and industry, transforming alliances into economic engines capable of producing technological solutions and creating job opportunities. He added that the initiative received applications from 104 alliances across different regions, involving 808 members and 553 entities representing various sectors, before selecting nine alliances through a rigorous evaluation system. Funding ranging from EGP 90 to 150 million has been allocated to each alliance over three years.

In this context, Prof. Dr.Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, expressed his pride in the Delta Region Alliance’s win and in the university’s leadership of the alliance in partnership with Mansoura University. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the pioneering role of Egyptian universities and their ability to provide applied solutions linked to industry and development challenges. He explained that the winning project represents a qualitative step in developing a vital industry directly related to food security, reaffirming the university’s commitment to harnessing its scientific and research expertise to ensure successful implementation and achieve tangible developmental and economic returns.

Prof. Dr.Hemdan Rabie also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the political leadership for its full patronage of this promising initiative, affirming that the President’s support for the scientific research and innovation ecosystem has opened the door for universities to engage in national projects with sustainable impact.

The University President further expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Higher Education and the Academy of Scientific Research for their efforts in launching ambitious national programs that bring academia and industry together and transform research ideas into implementable applications.

The event also witnessed the signing ceremonies of cooperation agreements with the nine winning alliances, in the presence of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education, as part of strengthening partnerships between universities, industrial institutions, and government entities—contributing to supporting the state’s priorities for comprehensive development and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
