           Damietta University President Attends the Opening of New Sports Facilities During the Minister of Youth and Sports’ Tour in Damietta

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, witnessed today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the inauguration by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Professor Dr. Ayman El-Shihaby, Governor of Damietta, of the sports hall and the semi-Olympic swimming pool at Future Club in New Damietta.

This came as part of the Minister’s inspection tour of Damietta Governorate to inspect and inaugurate a number of sports projects, within the framework of the state’s plan to develop youth and sports infrastructure across the governorates.

The event was attended by Engineer Shaimaa El-Seddik, Deputy Governor of Damietta; MP Walid El-Tammamy and MP Amir El-Seddik, members of the Senate; MP Mahmoud Mishal, Member of the House of Representatives; Dr. Mohamed Fawzy, Director of the Directorate of Youth and Sports in the governorate; Professor Dr. Amrallah El-Bastaty, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Future Club; along with a number of relevant executive leaders.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, affirmed that the Ministry continues to implement its comprehensive plan to develop and upgrade youth and sports facilities in line with modern standards, contributing to expanding participation in sports, discovering talents, and providing integrated sports services for youth and juniors.

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Egyptian state, under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to support and develop youth and sports infrastructure in various governorates, stressing that these projects represent a real investment in the Egyptian people and contribute to building a healthy, aware generation capable of effective participation in the development process.

The University President pointed out that the development of sports facilities witnessed in Damietta Governorate reflects an integrated vision aimed at providing youth with opportunities to practice sports in a safe environment equipped according to the latest standards, emphasizing the importance of integration between educational, youth, and sports institutions to promote the values of belonging, teamwork, and the discovery of promising talents.
