The University President participates in the Supreme Council of Universities meeting.

            The University President participates in the Supreme Council of Universities meeting at Sadat City University. In preparation for the new academic year, the Minister of Higher Education instructed:

Early preparation for the upcoming academic year and announcing study schedules before the semester begins.

Developing plans for student activities, awareness seminars, and educational sessions addressing various challenges.

Promoting Egyptian universities both domestically and internationally.

Approving the rules and regulations for faculty promotion in the new cycle.

Commending the inclusion of six Egyptian universities among the world’s top 1000 universities in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking.

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held today, Saturday, under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Professor Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Council, and the esteemed members of the Council, at the headquarters of Sadat City University. The Council extended congratulations to Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, and the Secretariat team on the occasion of the Council obtaining four ISO certifications: ISO in Quality Management, ISO in Occupational Health and Safety Management, ISO in Knowledge Management, and ISO in Governance Management.

The Minister expressed appreciation to the team of the “Be Ready” initiative, supervised by Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training, and Labor Market Qualification, and Acting Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector. He also thanked the university presidents and directors of Career Development Centers for their great efforts in ensuring the success of the second edition of the initiative “Be Ready: One Million Qualified Innovators.”

The Council also thanked the coordination office team, supervised by Dr. Gouda Ghanem, Head of the Education Sector and General Supervisor of the Coordination Office, for their outstanding efforts during the previous admission phases.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized the need for universities to establish plans for diverse student activities (sports, arts, cultural, and social) and to support talented students before the start of the new academic year. He noted that student activities represent one of the fundamental pillars of the educational system, as they aim to strengthen teamwork, reinforce and solidify human connections, and serve as one of the most effective ways to integrate students into society.

The Minister instructed universities to develop plans for organizing awareness and educational seminars for students on various challenges, fostering their sense of belonging, and intensifying awareness campaigns to counter concepts and ideas that contradict the noble religious values and the authentic cultural and social heritage of the Egyptian people, in preparation for the 2025/2026 academic year.

 

As part of preparations for the new academic year 2025/2026, Professor Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized the importance of early readiness and directed universities to announce their academic schedules well in advance, allowing students sufficient time to familiarize themselves with them before the start of classes.

Dr. Ayman Ashour also praised the achievements in international university rankings, including the inclusion of six Egyptian universities among the world’s top 1000 in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking, one of the most prestigious global rankings. He urged universities to continue supporting researchers to increase scientific publications in leading journals, thereby advancing the standing of Egyptian universities in major global rankings.

The Council also reviewed a report on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s key activities during August. Among them was Dr. Ayman Ashour’s inauguration of the 9th edition of the Akhbar Al-Youm Higher Education Fair, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, under the title “Uni Egypt”. The event was organized by Akhbar Al-Youm in cooperation with the Ministry and featured university and institute pavilions showcasing their distinguished programs, specializations, and the latest developments in the higher education system.

The report further highlighted several meetings with ministers, ambassadors, foreign officials, and delegations from international universities to explore mechanisms for enhancing joint academic and research collaboration. Professor Dr. Adel Abdel-Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that the Council reviewed the efforts of the committee chaired by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, to promote Egyptian universities through various platforms by producing diverse digital content targeting audiences both locally and internationally.

The Council also reviewed the promotion efforts carried out by the General Administration of the Media Office and the Ministry’s Spokesperson, in cooperation with university media departments and the Central Administration for International Student Affairs, as well as the outlines of the executive plan to promote Egyptian universities domestically and abroad in the coming period.

The Spokesperson added that the Council approved the rules and system of work for the scientific committees responsible for reviewing the scientific output of applicants for the positions of Professor and Associate Professor in the fifteenth cycle (2025/2028), which will be announced on the official website of the Supreme Council of Universities.

Additionally, the Council reviewed the annual report of the Egyptian Student Engagement Survey for the academic year 2024/2025.
