University President Honors an Omani Researcher after Defending His Doctoral Thesis on the Role of Social Media in Protecting Youth from Psychological Alienation.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of Damietta University, received Omani student Mutib bin Suhail bin Ali Al-Maamari, following the successful defense of his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Education – Department of Foundations of Education. The thesis was entitled: “A Proposed Strategy to Activate the Role of Social Media in Protecting University Youth in the Sultanate of Oman from the Phenomenon of Psychological Alienation.”

During the meeting, the University President warmly congratulated the Omani researcher on his outstanding academic achievement, praising his research efforts, commitment, and perseverance throughout his studies. He affirmed that Damietta University takes pride in all its international students from brotherly countries and provides them with special care through a stimulating academic and research environment that fosters excellence and creativity.

The President further emphasized that such research contributes to addressing contemporary issues of concern to Arab societies, noting that Damietta University is keen to strengthen academic cooperation with Oman and other Arab countries, thereby supporting the exchange of expertise and deepening fraternal ties.

For his part, Omani researcher Mutib Al-Maamari expressed his great happiness with this achievement, extending his gratitude to Damietta University, led by Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie, for providing him with academic support and a fruitful scientific environment during his studies. He also expressed deep appreciation to his professors at the Faculty of Education and to the members of the examination committee for their supervision, guidance, and efforts that contributed to the successful completion of his thesis. He concluded by expressing his hope that his study will serve the youth of his country and the Arab community as a whole.
