Damietta University Participates in the Fifth Edition of the National Reading Project and Invites All Students and Faculty Members to Join
Damietta University announces its participation in the activities of the
fifth season of the National Reading Project, in accordance with the directives of
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to support university and institute students across Egypt by equipping them with a wide range of skills and knowledge. This comes in line with the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and
Egypt’s Vision 2030, aiming to strengthen partnerships and consolidate fruitful and constructive cooperation with educational and national institutions to prepare distinguished and successful young leaders.
In continuation of its ongoing support for promoting a culture of reading and enhancing cultural awareness among its students and faculty members, Damietta University reaffirms its commitment to fostering values of knowledge, creativity, and building a generation capable of critical thinking.
Prof. Dr./ Hamdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, stressed that the university’s participation in the fifth edition of the project reflects its dedication to activating its societal and cultural role. He explained that the university is working to provide all means that enable students and faculty members to participate effectively—whether through organizing workshops or offering diverse knowledge resources in university libraries. He invited all students and faculty members to take part in the initiative.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Maher Abdel Rahman, Professor of Linguistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Damietta University, and the University’s General Coordinator for the Project, stated that student participation will be through the “Cultured University Student” competition within the National Reading Project. The competition offers multiple levels from which students can freely choose, and the registration requirements are very simple, as follows:
Competition Levels (Choose what suits you):
- Silver Level: Read and summarize 30 books
- Gold Level: Read and summarize 50 books
- Diamond Level: Read and summarize 100 books
Financial Awards:
- First Place (Diamond): 1,000,000 EGP + trophy and medal
- First Place (Gold): 500,000 EGP
- First Place (Silver): 250,000 EGP
There are valuable financial prizes up to fifth place in each level!
Competition Requirements:
- Individual registration by the student.
- Books must cover at least 5 diverse fields of knowledge.
- Summaries must be submitted exclusively through the official website.
- Participation is completed through filling out online registration forms
with no fees required.

The university’s participation in the fifth year of the project is organized by the
Sector of Education and Student Affairs and implemented by the
General Administration of Youth Welfare – Cultural Activity Department, under the coordination and administrative supervision of
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdu Ammasha, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.
