The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) announces the opening of applications for the
CERN Non-Member State Doctoral Student Programme, dedicated to PhD students from
non-member states, offering an opportunity to participate in advanced research in
physics, engineering, and computer science at one of the world’s largest scientific institutions —
Geneva, Switzerland.

?? Location: CERN Headquarters – Geneva, Switzerland (with the possibility of splitting the stay between CERN and the home university)
??? Program Start: 2026
Benefits:
- Renewable contract for up to two years.
- Monthly allowance: 3,891 CHF (net of tax).
- Travel allowance.
- Family allowance (if accompanied by a spouse and/or children).

- Paid leave: 2.5 days per month.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be enrolled in a doctoral program and have completed
at least one year of study.
- The work at CERN must form part of the PhD thesis, under continued academic supervision from the home university.
- Proficiency in English and/or French is required.
Important Note: Students from CERN Member States or Associate Member States are
not eligible for this program.

- Motivation letter explaining how the fellowship will contribute to your academic and professional development.
- Statement of research interest.
- Two recommendation letters (one must be from the PhD supervisor at the home university).
- Letter confirming joint supervision by a team at the home university.
- Academic transcripts and the most recent degree certificate.
- Proof of enrollment in an eligible doctoral program.
