The university president inspects the university hospital buildings.

            As part of the ongoing field follow-up of Damietta University’s development projects, Professor Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, conducted an inspection tour this morning, Monday, May 26, 2025, to follow up on the progress of construction work at the University and Student Hospital building in New Damietta City. He was accompanied by Professor Dr. Mohamad Abd Al Hamed Shehab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Eng. Hanan El-Halfawy, Director General of Engineering Affairs at the University, and Mrm Ihab Fawzy, Director of the Budget Department. The tour aimed to review the project's latest developments and progress, as the hospital represents a qualitative leap in the level of medical and educational services provided by the university to residents of the governorate and surrounding areas. The university and student hospital is built on an area of ??10,000 square meters and consists of four floors designed to accommodate all medical and academic services. The building's internal layout is as follows:

Ground floor: Includes the emergency department with 16 examination rooms, 6 specialized medical units, 2 emergency operating rooms, 2 laboratory and analysis departments, 3 radiology departments, 4 outpatient clinics, 24 clinic rooms, in addition to waiting areas and administrative and engineering offices.

First floor: Includes 12 specialized clinics, 24 patient rooms, two intensive care suites with a capacity of 20 beds, 14 operating rooms, 16 intermediate care rooms (32 beds), 16 residence rooms connected to the operating rooms, in addition to hospital administration offices and accounting units.

Second floor: contains two intensive care wings, 6 specialized operating rooms, 4 residential wings (24 beds), 8 hotel rooms, and 8 intermediate care rooms.

The third floor: includes conference and lecture halls equipped with the latest technology, 4 residence suites (52 beds), residence rooms for female doctors, 8 hotel rooms, and 8 intermediate care rooms.

Following the tour, the University President and the accompanying delegation inspected the Al-Ghaly University Hospital building in Damietta, which consists of 11 floors and includes seven specialized medical centers, including: the Physiotherapy Center, the Cardiac Catheterization Center, the Fertility Center, the Urology Center, the Chest Diseases Center, the Internal Medicine Center, and the Kidney Diseases Center. The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 months according to the specified timetable. During the tour, Professor Dr. Hermdan Rabie emphasized the need to adhere to the timelines set for the two projects, emphasizing that the university prioritizes upgrading the healthcare infrastructure and linking academic and practical aspects to serve the local community and enhance the quality of medical education and training at the university.
