On Thursday 5/ 12/ 2019 Professor   Dr. El Sayed  Mohamad Dadour - the president of the university signed a cooperation protocol between the university and the Public Authority for Adult Education which focused on adult literacy for people in Damietta villages and centers sponsored by professional professors from the university. The university students will teach in this project as a service to the Society of Damietta. Professor Dr. Abd El Hamed Khedr- the vice president for Community Service and Environmental Development , Dr.Mohamad Gomaa – the coordinator of literacy and adult education at the university  and Mr. Naser Hamad- the director of the branch of the Adult Education Authority in Damietta attended the event  . With this effort, the university achieved the second place as the largest achievement at the level of Egyptian universities in 2018/2019. It should be noted that the university was able to literate more than  (5000 citizens) within the province. The University therefore endeavors to complete the procedures for establishing an adult education center at the university and activating the articles of the new protocol with the authority to reach the target by 2020, which is to eliminate the illiteracy of more than twenty thousand illiterate people from the province. The university is also keen on activating societal participation in the field of literacy at the university's theoretical colleges according to specific procedures within the framework of the national project for literacy. This is a moral commitment from the university towards Damietta and its people and one of the actions that the university initiates to serve the community.
