The Minister of Education visits the university’s pavilion at the Climate Change Forum for Universities

        Damietta University was honored by the visit of Professor Dr. Mohamad Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the university’s pavilion, in the Forum for the Activities and Events of Egyptian Public Universities to Confront Climate Change. Damietta University participated in the Forum of Activities and Events of Egyptian Public Universities to Confront Climate Changes from 22-23 September | At Tulip El Galala Hotel, Ain Sokhna, to present the efforts and activities of Damietta University in facing climate changes and adapting to harmful effects, headed by Professor Dr. El-Sayed Mohamad Dadour, President of Damietta University, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Abd Al Hamid Abd Al Fattah Khedr - Vice President for Community Service Affairs and Professor Dr. Hesham Mostafa El Asmar - Emeritus Professor of Marine Geology in Damietta Sciences and Dr. Basma Mohamad Sheta - Assistant Professor of Animal Environmental Sciences at Damietta Sciences.

The university participated in three research papers entitled: -

  1. 1 -Climate change and the threat to the diversity of birds in coastal areas

  1. 2 -Forty years of monitoring and follow-up to changes on the coast of Damietta and sustainability in the face of climate change

Professor Dr.  Hisham Mustafa Al Asmar.

  1. 3 -The sensitivity of Lake Burullus - Baltim and Gamasa coasts to rising sea levels and climate changes: risks and solutions.

Some of Damietta University's activities in the field of energy saving were also displayed in the forum exhibition.

The recommendations and suggestions of the forum were as follows:-

* Develop an executable mechanism in compiling everything related to the sustainability file of the Green University.

* Activating the climate office and preparing the university’s sustainability file.

* Making an exhibition on climate change to present the most important works and research that serve the climate issue.

* Preparing a policy paper on the most important research and scientific results and solutions to confronting climate change and submitting it to the Minister of Higher Education as participation by Damietta University.

* Encouraging students and researchers to turn projects into simulation models and prototypes so that we can display them.

The forum comes in parallel with the preparations for the 27th Climate Conference, which will be hosted by Egypt during the period from 7-18 November 2022, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh. It will advance global climate conversations, mobilize action, and provide an important opportunity to consider the impacts of climate change in Africa.
