Professor at the College of Applied Arts wins a scholarship from Higher Education

       The research project submitted by Professor Dr. Tarek Mohamad Abu Al-Maaty, former Vice President of the University (principal researcher) and the work team won a grant of funding of more than 9 million pounds from the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority. The title of the project is: " Upgrading the supercritical fluids lab to pilot scale; Technology transfer and application in textile industry" . Today, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Professor Dr. El-Sayed Mohamad Dadour, President of the University, signed a cooperation protocol between the University and the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority. The signing of the cooperation protocol was witnessed by Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.

The research project aims to:

  • Financing the purchase of new advanced devices in the field of supercritical fluids.
  • Transfer of dyeing technology using supercritical carbon dioxide from the laboratory scale to the experimental scale in preparation for transferring it to the industrial level later on.
  • Supporting and training analytical specialists at the local and international levels.
  • Developing the current equipment in the supercritical fluids laboratory by providing the necessary spare parts and supporting it with more advanced units.

It is worth noting that the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority has announced the opening of the field of competition in the projects, and only four projects won funding, and Damietta University won the funding of one of those four projects. On this occasion, Professor Dr. El-Sayed Mohamad Dadour, President of the University, extends all thanks and appreciation to the team working on the research project, namely: Professor Dr. Tarek Mohamad Abu Al-Maaty, former Vice President of Damietta University (principal researcher), Professor Dr. Neveen Assem, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, and Dr. Khaled Abd Al Fattah Abu El-Maaty is a teacher at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Damietta University, and both Dr. Hanan Gamal and Dr. Shereen Anwar, Department of Textile Printing, Faculty of Applied Arts, Damietta University.
