The University President witnesses the activities of the third batch of the "Women Lead in Egyptian Governorates" program. Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, witnessed today, Sunday, July 13, 2025, the activities of the third batch of the “Women Lead in Egyptian Governorates” program, which is implemented by the National Training Academy in Damietta Governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Ministry of International Cooperation. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Ayman El-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, Dr. Solfa Goweily, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, Eng. Shaimaa El-Sedeek, Deputy Governor of Damietta, Major General Mohamad Hammam, Secretary General of the Governorate, Dr. Taher Nasr, Deputy Executive Director of the Academy, a delegation from the Academy, and Professor Dr. Amr Hanfy, Advisor to the Governor of Damietta for Spatial Information Systems and the official spokesperson for the Governorate. The program, which ran from June 28 to July 18, included several key topics aimed at developing personal and leadership skills, project management, entrepreneurship, nation-building, awareness, and marketing, with the goal of qualifying 47 female trainees working in the governorate. During his address at the event, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie El-Metwally, President of the University, expressed his great happiness at participating in this event, which embodies the Egyptian state's interest in the role of women in the development process. He emphasized that history bears witness to the active role of women from ancient times to the modern era, and that the Egyptian state is currently experiencing the golden age of women's empowerment under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, who has given women a special place in comprehensive development plans. In his address, Professor Dr. Ayman Al-Shehaby, Governor of Damietta, emphasized that this program embodies the vision of the Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to empower women, develop their skills, and qualify them to assume leadership positions and participate effectively in the development process. He also praised the efforts of the National Training Academy in implementing distinguished programs that contribute to building the human being pointing out that human development is one of the main axes adopted by the state at the current stage. The Damietta Governor urged the participating women to make the most of the program and apply the knowledge they had learned in the workplace, as well as to share the benefits with their colleagues to improve performance and services provided to citizens. For her part, Dr. Solfa Goweily , Executive Director of the National Training Academy, emphasized that the program was launched based on a deep belief in the role of Egyptian women in shaping the future. She explained that the program began in October 2023 with the first batch of 95 trainees, followed by the second batch of 117 trainees, and today we are witnessing the third batch of 47 women who will graduate on July 18. She noted that the number of graduates from the National Training Academy from Damietta Governorate to date has reached 521, expressing her pride in the great support provided by the Governor of Damietta, the President of the University, and all of its partners in success. Dr. Taher Nasr, Deputy Executive Director of the Academy, emphasized that this training process is part of a larger vision that seeks to create spaces for active learning and critical thinking, and to encourage participants to engage in new experiences. He explained that the Academy places great importance on integrating the training process, starting with content design, through assessment tools, and ending with field experience which allows trainees to connect what they learn with what they see in real life, thus contributing to achieving the primary goal of preparing cadres capable of thinking, interacting, and participating in developing society. At the conclusion of the event, the trainees expressed their gratitude for the knowledge and experience they had acquired, emphasizing their desire to transfer this expertise to the workplace and apply it to contribute to improving overall performance and achieving the program's desired positive impact.
