The University President Attends Seminar on Modern Trends in Qualitative and Quantitative Research in Social Sciences.

               Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, attended on Thursday, February 12, 2026, a scientific seminar organized by the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts under the title “Modern Trends in Qualitative and Quantitative Research in the Social Sciences.” The seminar was delivered by Professor Walid Rashad Omar, Professor at the National Center for Social and Criminological Research.

The seminar was attended by Professor Dr. Al-Metwally Mostafa Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Professor Atiya Al-Imam Al-Qallali, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Professor Bassem Salama El-Deek, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Professor Hamed El-Far, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Arts; and Professor Moshera El-Ashry, Head of the Sociology Department, along with a number of faculty members, teaching assistants, researchers, and students.

During his lecture, Professor Dr. Walid Rashad Omar addressed the most prominent modern trends in qualitative and quantitative research, highlighting mechanisms for employing artificial intelligence tools in social science research. He explained their role in developing research methodologies, enhancing the quality of research outputs, and supporting decision-makers.

In his speech, the University President emphasized the pivotal importance of social research in the advancement of nations and the building of societies. He stressed the need to focus on the outcomes of seminars and scientific conferences and to apply them effectively in ways that serve the community and achieve sustainable development, rather than merely preserving studies in libraries without practical implementation.

He also referred to the major developmental transformations witnessed by the Egyptian state in recent years, including the elimination of informal settlements, underscoring the importance of continuing the development process through rigorous scientific studies that contribute to guiding societal progress and supporting the state’s development plans.

The University President expressed his pleasure at organizing this scientific seminar and called for following up on its recommendations and developing a clear action plan to maximize the benefit of its outcomes. He also extended his thanks to the students of “Family for Egypt” for their distinguished role in organizing the seminar’s activities and ensuring its successful presentation.
