            A Delegation from the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority Inspects the Supercritical Fluids Laboratory at Damietta University

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of Damietta University, received on Monday, 16 February 2026, a delegation from the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) during their visit to the Supercritical Fluids Laboratory of Professor Dr. Tarek Abu Al-Maati, which has been awarded a research project entitled:

“Upgrading the Supercritical Fluids Lab to Pilot Scale: Technology Transfer and Application in Textile Industry,”

The visit aimed to follow up on the laboratory’s activities, review the achievements accomplished within the framework of the project, and support scientific research and innovation efforts at the university.

The visit was attended by Professor Dr. Mamdouh Sofan, Former President of the University and Director of the research project, along with members of the research team responsible for implementing the laboratory’s activities.

The University President welcomed the delegation members, expressing Damietta University’s pride in its constructive cooperation with STDF and praising the Authority’s pivotal role in supporting and funding research projects that contribute to developing scientific research infrastructure, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian universities, and linking research outputs with industry needs and the labor market.

The visit included an inspection tour of the Supercritical Fluids Laboratory, during which the delegation reviewed the advanced equipment and technical capabilities related to supercritical fluid technologies. They also listened to a detailed presentation on the project’s areas of work, particularly those related to technology transfer and industrial applications in the textile industry, in addition to extraction activities and interdisciplinary applied applications.

The delegation was also briefed on the laboratory’s operational and management mechanisms, as well as its future development plans, ensuring the sustainability and optimal utilization of available capabilities and maximizing their scientific, industrial, and societal impact, while enhancing opportunities for marketing research outputs.

This visit comes within the framework of strengthening communication channels and ongoing cooperation between Damietta University and STDF, in a way that supports the research and innovation system, contributes to achieving sustainable development goals, and reinforces the university’s position as a leading academic institution in supporting applied research and community service.
