The General Secretariat of the Association of Arab Universities announced the results of the first edition of the Arab University Classification for the year 2023, which stems from the combined efforts of the Association of Arab Universities in cooperation with the League of Arab States, the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils. The results of the Arab classification of universities (ARU) showed a specific ranking of 115 Arab universities from 16 Arab countries, and Damietta University came in 28th place in the Arab world, and it also came in 14th place locally out of 28 participating governmental and private Egyptian universities. The Arab University Classification aims to bring Arab universities to the third and fourth generation of universities by improving the outcomes of higher education and scientific research, and to have an international classification in the Arab world with modern standards that keep pace with the requirements of the Arab world, side by side with other international university classifications. It is worth noting that the Arab classification of universities is based on four indicators that are compatible with the vision and needs of Arab countries. These indicators are: the teaching and learning index, the scientific research index, the creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation index, and the international and local cooperation and community service index.
