The President of the University 31.01.2024 314

Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, met today, January 31, 2024, with the work team concerned with preparing the application file for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in the presence of Professor Dr. Al-Metwally Mustafa Selim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Dr. Mohamad Amasha, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Professor Dr. Wael Abd Al Kader, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, and Professor Dr. Ghada Mohamad Al-Sayad, Dean of the College of Applied Arts, and Professor Dr. Sherine Mohamad Ghallab, Vice Dean of the College of Specific Education for Education and Student Affairs. This came within the framework of the keenness to promote tourism and introduce Damietta Governorate at the global level, and to reinforce the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, which includes among its seventeen goals a specific goal, which is “sustainable cities and local communities.” It is worth noting that the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is one of the most important international entities that has identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development and has identified seven categories for creative cities to consider the city as a creative city. These categories include (handicrafts, folk art, design, cinema, culinary art, literature, media arts and music). Given that Damietta Governorate is characterized by many target groups as a creative city, and based on the university’s role as a guiding beacon for community service, a cooperation protocol is being signed with Damietta Governorate to document the target groups as a creative city and work to prepare the necessary documents and information to prepare and prepare the file for submission on the network until participation opens for this year.
