The University President witnesses the twelfth educational symposium for schools

         Today, February 26, 2024, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, witnessed the twelfth educational symposium for schools, which was organized by the Popular and Military Defense Forces in cooperation with Damietta Governorate and held at the New Damietta Culture Palace, in the presence of Professor Dr. Manal Awad, Governor of Damietta, and Major General A.H. Walid Hamed Al-Hamaki, Commander of the Forces. The Popular and Military Defense, the representatives of the People’s Assembly and the Senate, representatives of the security and executive authorities in the governorate, and the clergy. This came within the framework of the efforts of the Armed Forces to raise awareness of the dangers and challenges of technological development. The symposium activities began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. In her speech, Professor Dr. Manal Awad, Governor of Damietta, greeted the attendees and expressed her happiness at participating in the symposium that coincides with Martyr’s Day. She also sent a message of thanks and pride to the armed forces and their brave men and saluted the souls of Egypt’s martyrs, the sons of the armed forces and the policemen who sacrificed. With their lives for Egypt. Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, thanked and appreciated the Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces and Professor Dr. Governor of Damietta for organizing this symposium, which confirms the keenness of the Armed Forces to pay attention to new generations and make them aware of technological risks under the wise leadership of His Excellency President Abd Al Fattah El-Sisi. He also sent a greeting of appreciation and pride in the souls of the righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. The symposium included many activities, beginning with a religious invocation, then an artistic performance by the Roya Band at the Misr Public Library in Damietta, entitled “The Song of Isis,” followed by a patriotic poem. The symposium then witnessed a lecture on the role of the individual in reducing the risks and challenges of technological development by Professor Dr. Ghada Amer, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Misr University of Science and Technology and Vice President of the Arab Foundation for Science and Technology, in which she spoke about the dangers of technology to the individual and society and explained the difference between smart systems and artificial intelligence and the dangers of the digital age and addiction. Technology, the most common methods of electronic hacking, and ways to protect against technology risks. Then the symposium continued with national artistic performances, including patriotic songs and performances by the Vision Band. Before the end of the symposium, a documentary film honoring the martyrs was shown, prepared by the leadership of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, followed by a speech by Major General A.H. Walid Hamid Al-Hamaki, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, in which he welcomed the attendees and conveyed the greetings of Lieutenant General Mohamad Ahmed Zaki, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Osama Askar. Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Education to keep pace with scientific development, stressing that the state aspires to a generation armed with science, values ??and knowledge, a generation that works, excels, thinks and innovates. A generation that loves competitiveness and leadership in order to elevate the Egyptian state. Therefore, the Armed Forces support the education system. A cooperation protocol was signed between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Armed Forces, represented by the leadership of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, to contribute to preparing a generation capable of facing the challenges of the modern era and raising the level of youth to new levels. It is in line with the successive developments of national, regional and local variables. The symposium concluded its activities by honoring the families of the martyrs of the armed forces, people of determination, and those who excelled academically from the people of the governorate.
