Damietta University witnesses the finals of the Damietta Pioneers Competition 2023 in its second edition

        Today, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, witnessed the activities of the finals of the Damietta Pioneers Competition 2023, in its second edition, organized by Methanex Egypt in the fields of industrial, agricultural and service projects, held today at the Steigenberger El-Lissan Hotel, in the presence of Professor Dr. Manal Awad, Governor of Damietta, and Eric Oechlin, Director of the Office of the International Labor Organization. In Cairo, the Director of the Decent Work Team for North Africa, Mohamad Shindy, CEO and Managing Director of Methanex Egypt, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Horus University, and Professor Dr. Saeed Abd Al Hady, President of Horus University. The contestants who qualified for the finals presented their ideas and projects, and the achievements of the second phase of the competition funded by Methanex Egypt were reviewed, which began in August 2023 with announcements through communication on social media pages, and targeted the youth of Damietta from the age of 21 to 45 years to participate in their projects in the agricultural fields. Industrial and services. The competition includes 9 prizes distributed across the categories or levels of the idea (3 prizes, each worth 30,000 pounds), the emerging project (3 prizes, each worth 50,000 pounds), and the existing project (3 prizes, each worth 125,000 pounds). A team from the Faculty of Engineering, Damietta University, won 30,000 pounds in the pioneering ideas level with an idea under the title “PVT Company” to develop solar panels to achieve the maximum benefit from solar energy thermally and photovoltaically. The team represents students in the fourth year of the Faculty of Engineering, Damietta University, and they carry the idea for their graduation project under Supervised by Dr. Mahmoud Mahmoud Abd Al Hadi, and the students participating in the competition are Osama Mohamed Fawzi Ajwa & Mohannad Salah Abdel Mgeed & Mohamed Kamal Bayoumi. On this occasion, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, extends his sincere congratulations to the winning students from the College of Engineering.

It is worth noting that the competition consists of three levels (an entrepreneurial idea - an emerging project - an existing project). 3 winners in each level presented more than 300 projects. 151 projects qualified for the first stage, 50 projects qualified for the final text, and 26 projects qualified for the final.
