An introductory seminar on the comprehensive health insurance system

              Within the framework of implementing the directives of His Excellency President Abd Al Fattah El-Sisi to implement the health insurance system, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, welcome ed, this morning, Thursday, December 14, 2023, in his office, Professor Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, Dr. El-Sayed Abd Al-Gawad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Damietta, and Dr. Hossam Abu Satti. The Executive Director of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, Dr. Wael Al-Dirandaly, Dr. Sayed Al-Uqda, and Dr. Walaa Abd Al Latif, members of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, in order to deliver an introductory seminar on the comprehensive health insurance system in Damietta Governorate, within the governorates of the second phase.. The symposium event began with the national anthem, then verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a review of the comprehensive health insurance system and the competencies of its three bodies: the Health Care Authority, the Health Accreditation and Oversight Authority, and the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, and the privileges that beneficiaries of the new system obtain, whether patients or providers. The symposium was attended by Professor Dr. Wael Farouk Al-Taybani, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, explaining the importance of what the state does in providing financial protection to those who are unable, and this “comprehensive health insurance” system provides protection from the financial burdens for families and citizens, Dr. Mahmoud Naguib Mishal, member of the House of Representatives, and Dr. Hanaa. Farouk, a member of the House of Representatives, a group of health leaders, department directors, and department heads in the governorate’s health directorate, and a number of distinguished faculty members at the university. During the symposium, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, welcomed the attendees, stressing that Damietta University is an incubator for activities that contribute to serving our society and our dear homeland, appreciating the efforts of everyone and state institutions to achieve comprehensive development in the health care sector to support the completion of the comprehensive health insurance project in the governorate, with the highest efficiency and quality. This was followed by a speech by Professor Dr. Ahmed Taha, President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, with a simplified explanation of the tasks of the Health Accreditation and Control Authority, as it is the body responsible for issuing and implementing national quality standards for health services, indicating that the condition for a health facility to enter the new system is to apply the standards and obtain accreditation from the authority. In order to provide safe health services at international quality levels to all comprehensive insurance beneficiaries. His Excellency stressed that the Health Accreditation and Control Authority’s primary goal is the safety of the patient and his family and his access to his full rights to health care, and that the patient has the right to know the patient’s diagnosis and the treatment protocol provided to him, in addition to choosing the appropriate health service provider for him, noting that comprehensive insurance allows all service providers to join. Health services in various sectors in order to achieve the principle of competitiveness and access to the best health services provided to patients. He added that the Health Accreditation and Control Authority plays a supervisory role over accredited facilities to ensure the sustainability of the quality of services provided and to ensure customer satisfaction with the new system, by receiving comments and complaints and working to find quick solutions to them. Then the first session was adjourned at exactly twelve o’clock in the afternoon, and the meeting resumed at exactly one o’clock in the afternoon, with a presentation entitled The Accreditation Journey, the Challenges and Its Application in Health Facilities, presented by Professor Dr. Sayed Al-Oqdah, a member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, who presented a presentation on that idea. This was then followed by a presentation entitled The Executive Aspects of Accreditation presented by Dr. Hossam Abu Satti, Executive Director of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control. Then another speech and presentation with Dr. Al-Sayed Abd Al-Gawad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Damietta, with an introductory video about the achievements and capabilities of the Directorate of Health Affairs. In conclusion, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, presented the University Shield to Professor Dr. Ahmed Taha, President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control. Then there was an intervention from Dr. Mahmoud Naguib Mishal and Dr. Hanaa Farouk, members of the House of Representatives, and I thanked the attendees. Then the event concluded with the Republican Anthem. The presenter of the symposium activities was Professor Dr. Mohamad Maher Abd Al Rahman, Head of the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, Damietta University.
