Conclusion of the activities of the “Ninth Forum for Combating Violence against Women”

            Today, Thursday, December 7, 2023 Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, witnessed the activities and conclusion of the “Ninth Forum for Combating Violence against Women,” which is being held within the Faculty of Education, Damietta University, in cooperation with the General Authority for Cultural Palaces. Also present were Professor Dr. Amany Awad, Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Dina Huwaidi, Director General of the General Administration of Women’s Culture, Dr. Fadi Salama, Director General of the Damietta Culture Branch, and a number of distinguished faculty members, administrators, and university students. Over the course of three days, the forum's activities witnessed lectures on some issues of concern to Egyptian women, which dealt with developing health awareness and the health initiatives the Egyptian state provides to women, in which Dr. Rasha Issa and Dr. Shaima Selim participated. The forum also addressed lectures on some societal issues related to women, in which Professor Dr. Mohamad Gomaa, Vice Dean of the College for Student Education Affairs participated, in which he presented legislation, services, and laws related to Egyptian women, in which Professor Dr. Ahmed El Zeky, Professor and Head of the Fundamentals of Education Department, participated. Professor Dr. Amany, Dean of the College, gave a lecture on electronic harassment against Egyptian women and the laws and services provided by the Egyptian state to protect Egyptian women. Professor Dr. Abd Al Nasser Anis, Professor of Educational Psychology and former Dean of the College, also participated in giving a lecture on small project management. The activities of the forum included holding performance workshops to provide college employees with the skills of producing jewelry, accessories, macrame, tent, and other handicrafts, in which the members of the College of Specific Education participated, Professor Dr. Abeer Ragheb Al-Atrebi, Professor Dr. Radwa Mustafa Ragab, Professor Dr. Hagar Al-Sayed Al-Ghobary, and the work team from Ministry of Culture . On the sidelines of the forum, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metawaly opened a handicrafts exhibition in which the outputs of the workshops, including handicrafts of accessories, macrame, and tents, were displayed over the course of three days. His Excellency also thanked all the contributors and those responsible for implementing and making the forum a success, and emphasized the importance of preserving the social fabric and integrating roles. Between men and women to build a strong and cohesive society capable of facing changes and providing a decent and secure life. At the conclusion of the forum, shields were exchanged between Damietta University and the Ministry of Culture, and the participants in the forum and those in charge of organizing it were honored. It also included a concert presented by the Arab Music Band.
