The University President and the Governor of Damietta inspect research laboratories at Damietta University

         Today, Sunday, November 19, 2023, Professor Dr. Hemdan Rabie Al-Metwally, President of the University, Professor Dr. Manal Awad, Governor of Damietta, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research, and Professor Doaa Salima, Executive Director of the Center for Industrial Modernization, He was accompanied by Professor Dr. Wael Farouk Al-Taybani, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Al-Metwally Salim, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and a number of university professors and researchers. During the tour, His Excellency inspected the Center of Research Excellence in Advanced Agricultural Sciences, which includes many of the most modern units in the world, namely:

Water Sustainability and Agricultural Systems Research Laboratory,

Water Sustainability & Agricultural Systems Ressearch Lab.

Agricultural Biotechnology Research Lab

Molecular Biology  Research Lab.

Spectroscopy Lab.                   

Central Lab.                                

The Governor of Damietta expressed the importance of the Center of Research Excellence in Advanced Agricultural Sciences for the Governorate, and it will be the nucleus of cooperation with Damietta University and benefiting from Damietta University in various scientific research. It is worth noting that the Center of Research Excellence in Advanced Agricultural Sciences aims to examine and diagnose animal and plant tissues, examine synthetic nanomaterials used in the industries of plant and animal nutrients, pesticides, and water treatment, detect viral infections such as the Corona virus, examine and diagnose cancerous cells and tumors, examine medical drug compounds and emulsions, and detect residues. Pesticides in food, feed and water. Estimating and identifying active compounds in plant extracts, detecting the degree of purity of medicines and medicinal drugs in foods and dairy products, separating and estimating amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids, medicines, pesticides, antibiotics, and stimulants, determining aflatoxins, which are among the most dangerous types of toxins in imported foods, feeds, and foodstuffs, and measuring the concentration of heavy metals in water and liquid waste. Food, feed, petroleum raw materials and oils and quality control in dairy plants to analyze milk to up to six standards, check for adulteration within minutes, identify carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen in various pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, energy, environment, agriculture, food and feed, analyze hormones and measure immune responses. Detection of viruses in general, genetic fingerprinting, participation in genetic engineering research, and detection of bacterial isolates. In addition to the research objectives of the center, civil society can benefit from it, especially the following institutions:       

The National Food Safety Authority, Damietta Port, the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Supply, and Environment, and companies operating in the agricultural production sector, food industries, and dairy products.
